About Mike Kent

Dr Mike Kent is a lecturer in Internet Studies at Curtin University based in Perth, Western Australia.

His articles have appeared in Fast Capitalism, Nebula, Online Opinion, AQ Australian Quarterly and M/C Journal (Media Culture).

He has recently completed writing a book Disability and New Media with Dr Ellis, the author of Disabling Diversity (VDM 2008).

Dr Kent has taught media studies, cultural studies and e-commerce at universities in Australia and the UK. He worked at Curtin University and Murdoch University in Perth, taught online units for Open Universities Australia, taught media studies at the University of Brighton in the UK, and ran study abroad programs for The Institute for Study Abroad at Butler University in North America. Dr Kent has also been involved in researching a writing about higher education policy. In 2008 he along with Stephen Mallinder compiled the National Subject Profile for Media and Communications for the Higher Education Academy in the United Kingdom.
